New Queen Bee for Red Hat Dolls of the Valley | Clubs, Red Hat Dolls, Paonia

Photo submitted Betty Portman, Queen Bee of the Red Hat Dolls of the Valley, has stepped down. Incoming Queen Bee is Carol Jean Garner (standing).

Red Hat Dolls of the Valley honored Betty Portman at their June meeting June 21 at Berg Harvest in Paonia.

Betty has been the Queen Bee of this group for a number of years. Incoming Queen Bee will be Carol Jean Garner.

Carol Jean presented Betty with a floral arrangement featuring red roses and purple carnations -- colors associated with Red Hat accessories. Portman also received a delicate sugar and creamer set. Reciprocating Portman presented Carol Jean with a cookbook and Red Hat pins.

Attending the occasion were Jean Flotho, Joyce Chapdelaine, Joyce Holybee, Claudia King, Georgia Mettz, Carol White, Lisa Walker, Bobbie Selk, Garner and Portman.

King was hostess. Tables were decorated in a patriotic theme with American flags and local cherries as gifts. King also gave a brief talk about her trip to Scandinavia illustrated with snapshots from Norway, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Poland, the Soviet Union, Finland and Sweden.
