At their May 7 meeting, Delta City Council members approved a donation of $300 for the Delta High School all-night grad party, although the party won't go all night. City clerk Jolene Nelson, who is also the mother of a graduate, said the party will run from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. the night of graduation and will be held at Bill Heddles Recreation Center, at the request of the students.

Mitchell Gronenthal, executive director of the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce, presented a request for chamber dues of $1,500 and a donation of $3,000 for sponsorship of events such as Deltarado Days and the Parade of Lights. Downtown Delta-Fest will now be known as Delta Proud. The first of two Delta Proud events will take place June 14 at Fort Uncompahgre; the second will be held in September in conjunction with Delta High School Homecoming, and will likely take place at the high school. The total amount of $4,500 was included in the 2019 budget. It was also pointed out the city provides extensive in-kind services for the chamber's special events. Wilma Erven, director of parks, recreation and golf, was asked to tally the value of those services. "That would be good information for us, the community and the chamber to have," council agreed.

At a previous meeting, council approved donations of $250 each for the two Destination Imagination teams from Delta headed to global finals. The Delta FFA Chapter received $100 to help cover the cost of its annual banquet.
