On May 28, the Delta County Sheriff's Office made a generous donation of two Dodge Durango SUVs to the Law Enforcement Academy at the Technical College of the Rockies. These vehicles will be used to supplement and improve quality of driver training the academy gives its students every semester.
Most agencies on the Western Slope, where 99 percent of TCR's cadets find work, have transitioned, or are in the process of transitioning to, either SUVs or pickup trucks for patrol vehicles. This donation will allow TCR to begin a transition as well from two-wheel-drive cars to vehicles that are more in line with the vehicles the students will drive with their law enforcement agencies.
Without donations such as this and the continued support of law enforcement agencies, such as the Delta County Sheriff's Office, improvements to TCR's law enforcement program would be much more expensive and difficult.
The Technical College of the Rockies would like to thank Delta County Sheriff Mark Taylor for his continued support of the Law Enforcement Academy at TCR.
