The Orchard City Board of Trustees meets regularly at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at Orchard City Town Hall.
CDOT letter of support
The Orchard City Board of Trustees approved a letter of support for Regional Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Rep. Brian Killian to change Highway 65’s classification from R-B — a rural highway — to R-A — a regional highway. This change, according to Town Administrator Melissa Oelke, will only affect new access requests of the highway, especially during the subdivision process.
The new classification would make a greater attempt to limit newly-created lots to one access point for the sake of increasing safety as land is developed.
Killian stated that in the last five years, there have been 136 accidents on Highway 65. Of those accidents, there have been 45 injuries, half of which are related to access points.
Field of Dreams annual agreement
The board approved the town’s annual lease agreement with the Field of Dreams, allowing the nonprofit organization to continue operating at the town-owned Orchard City Town Park.
Delta Search and Rescue park use variance
The board approved a park use variance for a Delta Search and Rescue scheduled for September.
