On Sunday, Feb. 23, from 5-7 p.m., the Cedar Mesa Community Club will provide a soup supper for donations at the Cedar Mesa Clubhouse, 15637 Peach Road on Cedar Mesa. Proceeds from donations will go into the club’s scholarship fund. The Cedar Mesa Scholarship goes to deserving high school seniors who live on Cedar Mesa.
At the soup supper, there will be “a wonderful variety of homemade soups to choose from,” a press release from the Cedar Mesa Club stated.
People who wish to attend the event do not need to purchase tickets or make reservations, but should come ready to make a donation for a worthy cause. “Seating may be be limited at times in the little Cedar Mesa Clubhouse, but the ladies of the Club promise you warm hospitality, and some delicious soups, plus drinks and dessert,” the press release stated.
The Cedar Mesa Community Club is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the area for 112 years. They have supported local charities such as the Surface Creek Food Bank, Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control, Cedaredge Volunteer Fire Department, the Christmastime Angel Giving Tree, Christmas Dinner Food Baskets and the Community Christmas Dinner. Additionally, they’ve reached out and worked with county-wide organizations such as the Tri-County Resource Center and the Delta Opportunity School’s Backpack Program.
In addition to the funds from the soup supper, scholarships are also funded by the annual Spring Gourmet Dinner.
“Thanks to generous support from the community at these events, the Club has been able to fund thousands of dollars in scholarships in the past several years,” the press release stated.
