On Jan. 10, the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce (CACC) put on its annual banquet to celebrate a successful year and to give member awards to the winners of four categories.

For Entrepreneur of the Year, Co-owners of Grand Mesa Outdoors Avery Forester and Sarah Henderson won for their success in opening an outdoor store in a small town situated at the foot of the Grand Mesa. Others nominated for the award were T’s Bar and Grill and Lost Mesa Grill.

The CACC awarded Volunteer of the Year to Barb Hladik of the Pondy, Cedaredge Public Works Director Scott Lock and former CACC Board Secretary Dave Wilson. The award was for outstanding volunteer work at Applefest and other various events in town.

Little Sprouts Community Preschool won Nonprofit of the Year for playing a powerful part in education in the Surface Creek community. Also nominated were Community Options and Surface Creek Animal Shelter.

Finally, the Cedaredge Foodtown won the award for Business of the Year for creating such an impact in Cedaredge by providing an in-town grocery store. Benson Brother Trucking and Equipment was also nominated.

CACC Board President Alex Moreno said that each organization was nominated by the community.
