The Blue Sage Family Matinee series will host Clarinet Trios with Jun Watabe, clarinet; Matthew Dane, viola; and Susan Ellinger, piano 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. The performers will present works by Mozart, Schumann, Gershwin and others for a fun family event.
Watabe, a refined musician, has appeared as a featured soloist internationally to rave reviews. As an orchestral player, Watabe has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and recorded with the Tokyo-Bach-Band and Collegio Saxophone Quartet. Watabe was the recipient of the Saxophone Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival for three consecutive summers.
Dane serves as principal volist of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in Houston and Opera Colorado, and is a member of the Arizona MusicFest and the Boulder Piano Quartet. Dane has appeared as soloist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, ROCO and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir among others.
Watabe and Dane are joined by Blue Sage Concert Series’ artistic director and pianist, Ellinger.
The concert will take place at the Blue Sage Center for the Arts, 226 Grand Ave. in Paonia.
