As part of the regular municipal election of April 7, Delta voters will elect three council members to sit on the Delta City Council, according to a City of Delta news release. The seats that will be elected are a council member from District A, one from District B, and a councilmember at-large.
According to the news release, people wishing to run for council must meet the following requirements:
Candidates must be at least 18 years old by April 7, the day of the election. They must have resided continuously in the City of Delta for a at least 12 months prior to the election; or if recently annexed, must have resided within the territory annexed for the prescribed 12 consecutive months. Candidates must be a registered elector. District A and B candidates must reside within the district in which they seek election. At-large candidates may reside anywhere within Delta’s city limits.
Nomination petitions became available on Jan. 7, and must be returned to the clerk’s office by 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27. The election will be conducted via mail ballots.
Anyone wishing to register to vote may do so at the Delta County Clerk and Recorder’s office, the Delta County Courthouse, or at govotecolorado.com.
