The Crawford Area Chamber of Commerce opened the new year with its annual membership drive and reminder that its monthly meetings take place the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the town council room at city hall. Chamber meetings are open to the public.
Crawford citizens are encouraged to save the date for the annual Crawford’s Old-timers/newcomer’s potluck and presentation of the “of the year” individuals including business, non-profit, volunteer and teacher. The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Crawford Town Hall.
The Friends of the Crawford Library will host the Cabin Fever book sale from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, and again from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26.
There are several fun activities at the Crawford Public Library including story-time for children 0-5 and their parents or caretakers. They are invited to the library for stories, activities, music, movement and play. Every Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Also check out the fun and informative Tech Café. It's a chance to bring your device and your questions for your smartphones, laptops, tablets and computers. The library’s resident techies will do their best to get you going. All ages and skill levels are welcome to seek assistance with technology. Delta County Libraries are offering state parks passes for one-week checkouts through the “Check Out State Parks” program. The program is a partnership with the Colorado Department of Education, State Library, local library systems, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Each library in Delta County has two state parks backpacks available for checkout with a library card. The backpacks contain a parks pass, binoculars, and informational brochures, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Delta County boasts three state parks: Crawford, Sweitzer (in Delta), and Paonia.
In addition to all the events and opportunities at the Crawford and Delta County Libraries, there are a number of community groups for citizens to join or check out.
The Crawford American Legion Post 190 meets the third Thursday of every month at the Crawford Community Center on the second floor at the town hall.
The area’s dementia support group meets in the North Fork Area at the Hotchkiss Town Hall Council Chambers, second and fourth Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.; in the Surface Creek Area at the Cedaredge Senior Center, Centennial Room, first and third Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.. and in Delta at 1353A Aspen Way, Thursdays at 1 p.m.
The Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Society meets the second Monday of each month at 1 p.m. at the museum on Second and Hotchkiss Ave.
