US 50 and Hwy 92 Work

Work on US 50 and Hwy 92 will resume on Feb. 22 for the final phase expected to continue into mid-March.

Staff Report

On Feb. 22, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Mountain Valley Contracting will resume construction work on the US Highway 50 and Colorado Highway 92 Delta Intersection Project.

The project includes adding a second left-turn lane from southbound US 50 to eastbound CO 92, installation of a continuous raised median near City Market on US 50 and near Meeker Street on CO 92, concrete pavement, storm drain pipe replacement, traffic signal replacement, overhead sign structure removal, new signage and striping.

Work began in June 2020. The project had a scheduled winter shutdown from December 2020 until now. CDOT asks that motorists note the recommended detour at Confluence Drive and anticipated traffic impacts.

Project schedule: Work is scheduled to resume on Feb. 22 and is expected to last into mid March. Normal working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Travel impacts: The Confluence Drive bypass route is recommended during construction. Travelers should expect daily temporary lane closures, detours, and lane shifts during work hours to shift traffic around work zones.

Work on/near the roadway will involve: traffic signal head replacement; permanent pavement marking in/near the intersection; placement of new sidewalk; placement of pipe headwall; placement of rip/rap in ditch channel and final landscaping/seeding.
