Every library in Delta County offers weekly storytimes for babies through 5-year-olds to introduce early literacy skills to Delta County children. Stories, songs, crafts, activities, and social time come together to offer an engaging experience for children and their parents or caretakers.

During the weeks of April 9-23, libraries across the county are delivering nearly 500 books into the hands of 4-year-olds for the seventh annual One Book 4 Colorado book giveaway. The winning book, "Groovy Joe: Dance Party Countdown," by Eric Litwin, offers a unique opportunity to blend reading with movement and music.

Following a dramatic and enthusiastic reading of the book, Hotchkiss Library manager Terry Johns handed out materials for each child to make a tambourine to take home. Younger siblings watched in awe as the children shook their tambourines, singing "Disco party, bow, wow! Disco party, bow, wow!"
