On Oct. 29, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office awarded Kenneth Taylor and Kevin Ray an “official commendation” for their part in seizing approximately 280 grams of methamphetamine, 21 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, two grams of heroin, two syringes loaded with suspected heroin, four shotguns, two handguns, a taser and drug paraphernalia from Michael Levins in late September.
“Sheriff Taylor, Undersheriff Archibeque and Sgt. Sanders would like to commend Deputies Taylor and Ray for their situational awareness and attention to detail which lead to the detection and subsequent removal of a large quantity of illegal narcotics from the streets of Delta County,” the Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page. “Sheriff Taylor would also like to congratulate Sgt. Sanders and K9 Roo for their assistance on the stop as K9 Roo was instrumental in locating the illegal narcotics in the vehicle.”
According to Sheriff Mark Taylor, Deputies Taylor and Ray reported on a domestic violence call regarding Levins. During that encounter with Levins, through proper investigation and intuition, the two deputies and K9 Roo went on to find the drugs and the weapons.
