Make some time for some light reading over the summer months. You just might learn something to help you with your outdoor passions.

During the time I was incarcerated in the sixth grade, the teacher assigned the class books to read. After reading these books, we were required to write a book report, highlighting the details of the book. The books the teacher selected for me were so boring, that there was absolutely no way I could get through it. The only books I ever read were fishing and hunting magazines, and I did not care about a girl named Charlotte and some silly spider.

I decided it was a lost cause and took my lumps with a bad grade. The teacher saw differently and assigned a book about fishing that she was sure would hold my attention. The book was called “The Compleat Angler” by Izaak Walton and written in 1653.
