Walking into the local libraries, many will be surprised by all that they find. Sure there are books, DVDs, CDs and more to check out but Delta County Libraries also offers a variety of classes and activities for all ages to take part in.
The library district Trust and Endowment is running its fall fundraiser to support library services, programs and staff. Donations over $10 will include a complimentary “Imagine” T-shirt.
The Delta County Library District Trust and Endowment is the fundraising aspect of the library district, Tracy Ihnot, communications and outreach administrator for Delta County Libraries, said. From its website, it “is a 501(c)(3) entity that encourages, solicits, receives, holds and manages gifts, bequests and reserves on behalf of Delta County Public Library District.”
The assets and funding from this group help provide support for library programs, services, staff and facilities. This is the third year the Trust and Endowment has done a fall fundraiser that offers a T-shirt for a donation of $10 or more.
Normally, the organization holds a “Love Your Libraries” fundraiser in late winter/ early spring, but it was cancelled this year due to COVID-19 and the shutdown.
The library always has activities/ events going on. “Fundraising for the library district is so important because it directly impacts the programs and services that the library district offers the community,” Ihnot said. “A great example of this is the summer reading program. In June and July of 2020, the libraries offered 24 programs for children over an eight-week period. During that time, the libraries provided over 500 take-home activity kits for children. The summer reading program is funded entirely by community sponsors and support from the Trust and Endowment.”
