In a 4-2 vote among the Town of Orchard City Board of Trustees, Maggie Andrews joined the town’s planning commission as of Wednesday evening. She and Doug Hamby both expressed their interest for the seat.
Andrew’s addition to the commission will fill the vacancy left by Bob Eckels, who vacated his seat to become a town trustee in November, after ex-trustee Doug Keller vacated his trustee seat in October. More information on those events are available in the DCI articles “Orchard City trustee suddenly resigns, claims town board does not properly serve the citizens” and “Bob Eckels fills vacant Orchard City trustee seat.”
The appointment to planning commission was done by verbal recommendation casting, as not all of the trustees were physically present at the meeting.
Andrews was recommended by trustees Gynee Thomassen, Doug Kirkpatrick, Wade Kasmen and Bob Eckels. Thomassen was the one to initially nominate her.
Hamby was recommended by trustees Mel Cook and Jan Gage. Cook was the one to initially nominate him.
The appointment of Andrews to the planning commission is effective immediately.
