The Montrose Center for the Arts (MCA) recently hosted its first art contest for children. This contest was centered around the upcoming holiday, St. Patrick’s Day.
There were nine area schools which participate with 776 submissions. Cash prizes will be given to all 18 winners from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the MCA, 11 S. Park Ave. in Montrose.
The MCA is looking to inspire young families to participate in programs and to visit the gallery in hopes of stirring creativity and appreciation of art in area youth. Maggie Ogilvie, who helped with the contest, said, the organization will host more events like this one in the future.
