Delta High School Senior Katharine “Katie” King was announced the November Student of the Month by the Orchard City Board of Trustees at the Nov. 13 council meeting.
Katie has lived in Delta since she was 2 years old and currently has a GPA of 4.19. She is involved with the Rivers Church, where she is part of the Joy Team, helping lead the children’s church service.
Katie is part of the Fine Arts Team and is passionate about music. She has participated in marching, concert and jazz bands at school and has played with the Montrose Community Band since she was in seventh grade. She has auditioned and been accepted into several honor bands, including CSU Honor Band and Western Slope Honor Jazz Band.
Last year, Katie was inducted into the National Honors Society (NHS), and she received top scores on most of her advanced placement (AP) exams.
After she graduates high school in May, Katie plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and double major in music education and jazz studies.
Katie’s ultimate goal is to be a jazz professor at a university.
