Paonia trustees awarded a $156,740 contract for a sewer line replacement project to Hotchkiss-based Roop Construction. Located in the alley between the 200 blocks of Minnesota and Clark avenues, the bid includes excavation for, and installation of 780 linear feet of 8-inch PVC sewer line. Public works director Travis Loberg said the cost of materials, estimated at between $27,000-$30,000, and project oversight will be provided by the town. The town is in the process of applying for an administrative grant from the Department of Local Affairs to fund the majority of the project, with the balance of about $60,000 coming from reserves.
