City of Delta Public Works Director Betsy Suerth announced at the Delta City Council meeting on Nov. 5 that the West Legacy Park project is still on schedule, with a permanent stabilization plan being reviewed Nov. 6.
The building’s tear-down was completed on Oct. 23. A temporary stabilization system was put up on the neighboring walls, as the buildings on either side were touching West’s Home Center.
With the building gone, plans will move forward for West Legacy Park, a pocket park that will sit in the vacant lot where, until only last month, the old West’s Home Center building sat.
“The final survey is underway and the design team is progressing and they should have the design by the first part of December,” Suerth said at the meeting. “We’re still looking at pretty much hitting our target dates.”
Suerth also said that the bid for the park’s construction would go out soon and that the plan is to award that bid on Jan. 7, at the town council meeting.
The plan going forward is for construction on West Legacy Park to begin in January and be completed sometime mid-May, according to Suerth.
