The Rose Club in Cedaredge and Orchard City has a program year starting in September and ending in August. In September we enjoyed an outstanding presentation about birds and how to keep them safe. Thanks to Kathleen Morrow for hosting and Sonja Marstad for asking Linda to be our program.

The October meeting was all about hemp and hoe some of the agriculture in Delta and Montrose counties has changed from corn, pinto beans, onions and hay to hemp. The group met at the home of Marilyn McDonald. Debba Peterson provided the program information.

In November the club had a tour of the Rock and Gem store in Cedaredge. Larry and Joyce Wright, owners, gave a talk about their discovery of the Utah Opal and how it is mined and processed. Debba Peterson hosted and Vivian Baker set up the tour for the group.

The annual Christmas catered luncheon at the Presbyterian Church was held Dec. 18. This year the group saw a collection of books from all over the world about “The Night Before Christmas” by Wilma Reever.

The club will learn about herbs — growing and using them — at the January meeting at the home of Jenna Rule, master gardener.

February the club will be learning tips for stress-free repotting for house plants with a demonstration at the home of Mary Callahan.

In March each member will bring information about her favorite flower. The group looks forward to learning all about flowers at the home of Sonja Marstad.

There will be a tour of the Ute Museum in Montrose and lunch at Remington Restaurant at Bridges Golf Club for the April gathering.

The Rose Garden Club will plant pots at the Horizon’s Care Center garden on May 8 just in time for Mother’s Day. Then the May meeting will be lunch and a tour of Sharon Pierce’s peony garden on May 22.

On June 19, the group plans to meet Sheryl Williams Art Studio to do alcohol ink paintings with Anastasia. This is something we have enjoyed before and look forward to again this year.

In July, the club always does a tour which we will decide on later in the year.

Then in August the group prepares programs for the coming year and install officers. This will take place at the home of Barbara Cairns.
