From noon-3 p.m. on Sunday, the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center (GMAEC) hosted its Second Sunday Family Pumpkin Paint event. Kids of the community were able to participate thanks to funding from the Lyra Corporation and Partners, “A Student Covid Impact Grant,” according to Terry Hotz of GMAEC.
Because of the funding, the event was free to the 40 participants from 12 different families, who all came in spite of the wind storm and brief rain that came through the area.
Painters and their families were treated to donuts and cider during the event. The cider was donated by Fritchman Orchards.
The pumpkins were provided by the Magtutu family.
After Sunday’s event, the community has several uniquely painted pumpkins to help boost the Halloween spirit.
