A late summer social sponsored by the Crawford Area Chamber of Commerce was a welcome respite from the summer heat and ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A crowd of nearly 80 physically distanced themselves on the green grass at the municipal park while enjoying classic rock, rhythm blues and classic country music. Families brought picnic baskets, lawn chairs and blankets to the evening event in the shadow of Crawford’s Town Hall.

The Bell Creek Band made up of Lenore Cambria on drums, percussion and vocals; leader George Hubert Lawhorn on the bass and vocals; Patrick Daily on saxophone and vocals; and Jason Cook on lead guitar and vocals entertained the crowd for nearly two hours.

Small Town Grind, a local food truck selling coffee, tea, espresso and specialty bake goods was also on site for the evening event.

Chamber President Collenette Vervloet was pleased with the gathering typically held at nearby Crawford State Park. She said this year, the chamber opted for the “bring your own picnic” at the town park due to coronavirus concerns.
