This autumn, the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center (GMAEC) will sponsor a tour of Surface Creek homes and gardens. Entitled “Tour de Cedars,” the event will feature visits to four scenic homes. Each home will offer a unique experience allowing participants to sample refreshments provided by local businesses while enjoying encounters with visual and performing artists.

The inaugural event will take place from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. Tickets for the Tour de Cedars must be purchased in advance and space is limited. Ticket sales began last month and about half of the 200 tickets available are already sold. Those interested in attending should act soon. The cost is $75 per person with proceeds going to support the arts center. Tickets can be purchased 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-3 p.m. on Sunday at the GMAEC, 195 W. Main Street, in downtown Cedaredge. Images of the tour homes including details of events at each location can be viewed and tickets can be purchased online at grand

In addition to showcasing unique homes, the Tour de Cedars will provide opportunities to sample the culinary specialties of Cedaredge chefs and taste wine and cider provided by local vintners and cider-makers as well as hot drinks prepared by baristas. Participants will also enjoy live music provided by area performers and be able to view the works of local artists with opportunities to meet the performers and artists themselves.

The GMAEC is a nonprofit organization which relies on volunteers to make events a success and numerous volunteers will be on hand to support the Sept. 29 tour of area homes. For additional information, contact the arts center at 970-856-9195 or
