Austin resident Charles E. "Bud" Hinchman died June 25, 2019, at his home. He was 86.
Graveside service was held July 1, at Cory Cemetery.
He was born March 12, 1933, to Lewis and Sarah (Mahannah) Hinchman in Cedaredge. He spent his early childhood in Cedaredge. The family then moved to Delta where Mr. Hinchman attended high school.
At the age of 17 he entered into the United States Army, serving from 1950 to 1953. He was a member of the 187th airborne infantry regiment nicknamed "Rakkasans."
After an honorable discharge, he married Janet Gay Aug. 30, 1953, in Delta. The Hinchmans raised their family in Eckert then moved to Novato, Calif. In 1997 they moved to Austin.
Mr. Hinchman was a stone mason. He enjoyed laying rock and building things, riding his 4-wheeler, birdwatching and all dogs. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cedaredge Ward and of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Hinchman; children, Robin (Will) Martinez of Olathe, Rowdy (JoAnna) Hinchman of Washington, Utah, Rory Hinchman of Ocala, Fla., and Penny (Gary) Hunt of Fruita; brother, Forrest (June) Hinchman of Eckert; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hinchman was preceded in death by his son, Adam Hinchman; daughter, Cynthia Kline; brothers, Jim and Albert Hinchman; sister, Eda Hinchman; and great-granddaughter, Jose Varela.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
