Curtis Paul Holt passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the Paonia Care Center. He was 89 years old.
A graveside service was held for Curtis 10 a.m. Sept.16, 2019 at Mesa View Cemetery.
Curtis was born on June 13, 1929 to Paul Chesney and Rosetta (Hutsell) Holt in Crocker, Missouri.
He spent his early years in Missouri where he worked as a radio engineer, earning his 1st Class Radio License and started a business. Curtis married the love of his life, Shirley Mae (Hill) in 1948.
Curtis and his family made many trips to Colorado to hunt elk until finally in 1973, they moved to Powderhorn, Colorado. Curtis loved Colorado and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
His family fondly remembers that Curt was a friend to all, and there was nothing that he could not fix. He could rebuild a car or fix anything electronic that came his way.
Curtis is survived by his three sons: Dennis (Dottie) Holt of Kansas City, Missouri; Jeff Holt of Crested Butte; and Greg (Sara) of La Junta; as well as, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Juanita; his parents; and his wife, Shirley.
