Gary Fred Hockaday of Longmont died July 18, 2019, at his home. He was 80.

He was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Alamosa to Wilhamein (Armstrong) and Fred Hockaday.

Following his high school graduation he served in the amphibious division of the United States Army.

On June 22, 1958, he married Arlys Welburn in Longmont.

Mr. Hockaday worked as a carpenter in the construction field. He was a ColoRODans founding father and a member of the Breakfast Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, ATVs, reading and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlys Hockaday; son, Kelly (Brenda) Hockaday of Mead; daughter, Cheryl Baird of Fruita; grandchildren, Austin (Caitlin) Branden, Cameron, Catie, Coleson, and Cash; great-grandson, Mack; brothers, Dean (Donnetta) Hockaday of Oilton, Okla., Vaughn Hockaday of Delta; and sister, Janet (Ken) Wilson of Olathe.

Services were held July 29 at LifeBridge Christian Church in Longmont.
