Ginena Faye Armstrong
April 7, 1933 — May 25, 2021
Ginena Faye Armstrong, 47-year resident of Cedaredge, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, as she had lived her life: full of years and with a knot of friends who enjoyed her hospitality and willingness to help through good and bad times.
Mrs. Armstrong was born April 7, 1933 in LaGrande, Oregon, to Harold and Verda Greer. When she was 6 years old the Greers moved to Boise, Idaho, where Ginena attended public schools. She met and married C. Ward Armstrong in 1953 prior to moving to Moscow, Idaho, to attend the University of Idaho.
During Mr. Armstrong’s tenure with GE the family lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the 1960s and Mrs. Armstrong became a home recipe tester for General Mills, evaluating intermediate altitude recipes for Betty Crocker. Later in her life she put these skills to work in Montana canning fruit, preserving, and making wild game meat taste like French cuisine.
During her time in Delta County, Mrs. Armstrong worked for Ute Engineering and Paonia State Bank before devoting full time to the ranch operation in Cedaredge. That enterprise continues today largely because of her accounting skill, attention to detail, and exceptional principles.
Ginena is survived by five children: Howard (Cheryl) Armstrong, Lori (Kent) Austin, Grem (Robin) Armstrong, Joni (Michael) Reeves, and Milan (Patti) Armstrong; 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be June 20, 2021, at their home from 2 – 6 p.m.
