On Aug. 28, 2019, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Johnny “Jay” Inman went home to be with Jesus.
Jay was born on Oct. 27, 1950, in Champagne, Illinois. He grew up In the Air Force Academy and was a long time resident of Black Forest. Jay and his wife Carol moved to Colorado’s Western Slope after losing their home in 2013.
Jay is survived by his parents, JJ and Marjory Inman; sister, Cindy Sadler; wife, Carol Inman; children: Joseph Inman (Carrie Lerner), Daniel Inman (Cassandra), and Therese Inman (Garett Reppenhagen); grandchildren: Abreaze, Seth, Moss, Hailey, Alder and Ocean; and great-granddaughter, Ziyah.
He loved Jesus and was a member of the Black Forest Chapel. He worked as an arborist, a wildland firefighter, a videographer at Digital Equipment, owned his own business — Inman Brothers Removal and Recycling— and was a volunteer firefighter and board member of the Crawford Fire Department.
He was married to his wife Carol for 44 years. They enjoyed backpacking, gardening, camping, feeding the birds and touring the U.S. on their BMW motorcycle. He loved walking their dogs and taking them everywhere. His many adventures with his family meant everything to him and included: hunting, fishing, camping, driving the firetruck in the local parades, sharing stories of trees, family dinners with ice cream, Christmas tree hunting on Rampage Range, motorcycle rides, teaching his grandchildren how to play checkers, going to basketball games, soccer games and ballet performances and making hot chocolate with them early in the morning.
Jay Inman lived life on the sunny side! Keep on the sunny side! Jay, Dad, Grandpa and Papa. We will miss you! Much butterflies!
A memorial service was held Sept. 7 at the Mountain View Bible Church, 8733 310 Road, Lazear, CO 81420.
