District 28 installation of officers took place at the Oddfellow Hall in Delta on Jan. 3. District deputy president Carol Mendenhall and district deputy grand master Bob Millard were installing officers. Glen Conger and Bonnie Pope were marshals.
Members from Elberta #106, Katherine #65, Montrose #31, Mt. Hayden #54, Olathe #99, Uncompahgre #65, Delta #116, Grand Valley #40, Plateau Valley #74 and Silverbell #115 were duly installed. About 45 were present, including three guests.
Outgoing noble grands were recognized and perfect attendance awards were given out. Refreshments were served afterward, and fellowship was enjoyed by all.
The next district meeting will be held April 17 in Delta with a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. and meeting at 2 p.m. Elberta #106 will host. The Rebekah school of instruction is Feb. 6 in Clifton. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., with school starting at 9 a.m. Grand Valley #40 and Plateau Valley #74 are hosts.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
