Delta High School honored the memory of one of its outstanding baseball players at a recent game against Roosevelt's Roughriders. Prior to the playing of the March 28 contests, members of Luke Oeltjenbruns' family gathered to pay homage to one of the most-liked student athletes who played the game of baseball for the Panthers.
Oeltjenbruns played for the Panthers from 2004-2007 and was honored by being named as a WSL All Conference player in 2006 and 2007. He went on to play collegiately at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and received All Region IX honors as a starting pitcher.
Described as the epitome of toughness, Oeltjenbruns lived his life like he played the game of baseball, with tenacity and strength, yet, he never missed the opportunity to make those around him a better person.
