Barkin' Bargains Thrift Store will host a grand opening and open house from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at its new location at 213 Grand Avenue in Paonia. Proceeds from Barkin' Bargains sales support CAWS (Citizens for Animal Welfare and Shelter), which provides services that support the health and well-being of cats and dogs in the North Fork Valley. "We're hoping for lots of people," said CAWS board president Erica Howard.
In addition to shopping, the event includes free drawings for dog and cat goodies, refreshments, and a one-time opportunity to see where the new emergency housing for dogs and cats will be built. A lot of work has gone into preparing the new store, said Howard, and all of it was done by "an army of volunteers" from the community.
Two of the four marijuana questions on the November ballot were narrowly approved by voters in the City of Delta. Measure 2F allows the establishment of medical marijuana centers. Measure 2H permits the establishment of medical marijuana cultivation, testing, research and manufacturing facilities.
