Investigator Neil Ferguson with the Paonia Police Department reported to trustees that an unnamed person received a summons on a non-custodial arrest following an attempt to steal electronics items at about 10 p.m. following the Aug. 19 Pickin' in the Park concert at Paonia Town Park. The items were recovered.
Ferguson also reported that unknown persons claiming to represent the Delta-Montrose Electric Association have attempted to collect money by calling potential victims and telling them that their bills are overdue and services will be shut off if payment is not immediately received over the phone.
Most people are refusing to pay, said Ferguson. The Colorado and federal bureaus of investigation have been notified of the calls, and citizens are warned to never give credit card or other personal information unless they initiate the call.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
