Do you have a passion for trees? The Town of Paonia is looking to revive its tree board and is seeking members. Because it is an advisory committee, members don't have to be town residents, said mayor pro tem David Bradford, who served on the tree board for several years.
Membership also doesn't require a great deal of time, said Bradford.
And while knowledge of trees is welcome, members don't have to be arborists or have any particular knowledge of trees, only a genuine desire to make Paonia a tree-friendly community. The main functions of the board include submitting annual applications to the Arbor Day Foundation for Tree City USA status, and helping with special events and activities. Those interested in serving on the tree board can contact the town at 527-4104, or visit town hall at 214 Grand Avenue during regular business hours.
