Peace Circle has awarded $1,000 scholarships to six Hotchkiss-area graduating seniors. Scholarships and other local ministry efforts are funded by Peace Circle's "Wear House" thrift store in Hotchkiss Memorial Hall and its silent auction, held annually in conjunction with the Hotchkiss Holiday Art, Craft and Business Fair. Members recently observed the 40th anniversary of Peace Circle's formation within the Hotchkiss Community United Methodist Church. Peace Circle was honored as 2014 Citizens of the Year by the Hotchkiss Chamber of Commerce.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
