Peggy Ann Niemand died Sept. 26, 2015. She was 72.
She was born in Paonia Sept. 25, 1943, to Tom and Ann Sandifer. She grew up on the family fruit farm and graduated from Paonia High School in 1962. She was a baton twirler for the marching band and was a member of several clubs and social groups.
She married Siegmund Niemand on June 27, 1964.
Mrs. Niemand had lived in Las Vegas since 1977. She stayed active with her family, home health care work and clubs. She enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her four children, Kirk (Sharon), Lisa (Tom) Hoff, Amy (Wayne) Braxton and Kelly; her brother, Tommy (Judy) Sandifer; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Samantha, Branden, Jessica, Andre, Jacob and Matthew; a great-grandchild, Justin; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Sig, in 2003; and her sister, Bonnie.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 10, at the home of Kirk and Sharon Niemand in Las Vegas.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
