Last week, Congressman Scott Tipton (CO-03) announced the names of 25 students from Colorado's Third Congressional District who received a Service Academy nomination. The individuals were selected based on meeting or exceeding the rigorous requirements of the respective academy and Congressman Tipton's office.
Cyrus Malek-Madani was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy.
Caden Meilner received nominations to West Point and the Naval Academy.
Caden Meilner, the son of Timothy and Shauna Meilner of Paonia, attended the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program held June 3-8 at Annapolis, Md., and the West Point Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) held June 10-16 at the United States Military Academy.
Cyrus is the son of Joseph and Leslie Malek-Madani. He attended the U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Seminar at Colorado Springs June 18-23.
"One of the greatest honors of my job is nominating deserving, well-rounded individuals for our nation's prestigious military academies," said Tipton. "The 25 students nominated are some of the best and brightest that Colorado has to offer, and I am sure that they will have successful careers as officers should they be accepted into the academies. We are so fortunate to have such accomplished and hardworking individuals in our midst and I could not be more proud of them for answering the call to serve our nation."
