Dedication of the new Miners Plaza memorial wall at Paonia Town Park is tentatively scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 4, immediately following the Cherry Days parade and ahead of opening ceremonies at Howard Berkman Stage. The dedication was originally scheduled for Memorial Day, but had to be moved due to a delay in completion of engraving by Morris Monument in Delta.
A total of 119 submissions for the wall, or enough to fill 65% of available surface or eight of 11 panels, have been received, according to committee member Dave Bradford. Following the dedication, additional names may be added in fall or spring, based on availability of space.
Once the dedication is complete, additional names may be added to the wall, depending on availability of space. Names will be added twice a year, in fall and spring.
Those interested in submitting a name can contact Paonia Town Hall at 527-4101. More information, a flyer, can be found at www.townofpaonia.com/town-park-memorial-wall-coming-soon/
