Powerful Tools for Caregivers, an educational series designed to provide caregivers with the resources they need to take care of themselves, is coming to Delta. Scheduled to start on Oct. 8, Powerful Tools will be held in the Grand Mesa Oncology Center classrooms on the campus of Delta County Memorial Hospital, 1501 E. 3rd Street.
Presented by Region 10, The Area Agency on Aging, this program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources.
Classes consist of six 2.5 hour sessions held once a week. The courses will be taught by experienced caregivers who have successfully applied the techniques they teach. Interactive lessons, discussions, and brainstorming will help caregivers develop the "tools" they need to maintain their peace of mind.
Class participants will receive the book, The Caregiver Helpbook, developed specifically for the class. A $25 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the book, but no one will be turned away based on the ability to pay.
