Raymond Hoyt Linkletter of Montrose died Dec. 21, 2015, at Colorow Care Center in Olathe. He was 83.
He was born in Delta April 15, 1932, to Archie and Esther (Gay) Link-letter. He spent his childhood in Delta and graduated from Delta High School where he played football, baseball and basketball.
He joined the Navy after high school and was honorably discharged three years later.
Mr. Linkletter attended Mesa College, pursuing an engineering degree.
He re-enlisted in the Navy and served for 23 years. After retiring in 1974, he moved to Montrose where he worked as a maintenance manager for Russell Stover Candies for 20 years.
He married Mary Ida Markley March 20, 1956. The marriage ended in divorce in 1991.
Mr. Linkletter was a member of the Montrose Elks Lodge and Black Canyon Men's Club. He enjoyed softball, bowling, handball, hunting, fishing, gambling and golfing.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Alberts of Delta; four grandchildren, Robert Butler of Delta, Stephen and Shane Butler, both of Montrose, and Jason Butler of Gunnison; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Jack Link-letter.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Montrose Elks Lodge.
Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory in Montrose is handling the arrangements.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
