The Delta Police Department is pleased to introduce two new officers. Kenneth Taylor and Kevan Arreola were hired in January 2018. Taylor is a resident of Delta; Arreola makes his home in Olathe.
Taylor was born in Montrose and moved to the Delta area when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Delta High School in May 2011 and shortly after graduation, left for basic training with the United States Air Force. He attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, then moved to Fort Lee, Va., for training. Upon completion of training in Virginia, Taylor was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Del., for the length of his enlistment as an air transportation journeyman. He was deployed twice to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in 2012 and 2014. He separated from the Air Force in July 2017 after being accepted into the police academy in Grand Junction.
Arreola was born and raised in Delta. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, Delta Middle School and Delta High School. He attended the law enforcement academy at Delta-Montrose Technical College and was hired by the Olathe Police Department in February 2015. He was employed by the Olathe Police Department until December 2017. In his free time, he enjoys working out and spending time with his family.
Two of the four marijuana questions on the November ballot were narrowly approved by voters in the City of Delta. Measure 2F allows the establishment of medical marijuana centers. Measure 2H permits the establishment of medical marijuana cultivation, testing, research and manufacturing facilities.
