Red Hat Dolls of the Valley entertained Hotchkiss Red Hat Lady Bugs at the Paonia Park with a picnic Saturday, June 11. Also attending were four ladies from the Paonia Care Center and their two sponsors.
The group enjoyed barbecue beef from Zack's Bar-B-Q, salad, baked beans and peach cobbler. Tables were decorated in red and purple with garden flowers as an accent.
Lady Bug Queen Bee Carole McDaniel thanked Dolls of the Valley Queen Bee Betty Portman, Joyce Chapdelaine, Bobbie Selk, Joyce Holybee, Claudia King and Jean Flotho for hosting the picnic.
In July, the Dolls of the Valley will meet at the Bookcliff Country Club in Grand Junction with Barbara Compton and Barbara Smith as hostesses. August plans for the group include participation in the Delta County Fair parade.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
