The City of Delta Recreation Department provided results of the annual cribbage tournament -- the largest on the Western Slope -- held at Bill Heddles Recreation Center on Feb. 25.
Sixty-five players came from Delta, Olathe, Cedaredge, Austin, Eckert, Hotchkiss, Paonia, Crawford, Somerset, Montrose, Fruita, Clifton and Grand Junction. All participants played singles and had the option of playing doubles. The first place winner received a wooden cribbage board made by Len Johnson and certificates were given as follows:
Singles -- Mark Harris, Delta, first; Dan Vogel, Grand Junction, second; Conny Lepper, Fruita, third; Kate Orth, Montrose, fourth; Tom Babcock, Montrose, fifth.
Doubles -- Mark Harris and Tom Babcock, first; Darlene Johnson and Kate Orth, second; Carolyn Volpe and Dan Vogel, third; Dustin Orth and Lee Martinson, fourth.
Minor prizes were given to sixth to 12th place in singles and to fifth to eighth in doubles.
The tournament is co-sponsored by Lee Martinson, who donated prizes for the big winners.
Two of the four marijuana questions on the November ballot were narrowly approved by voters in the City of Delta. Measure 2F allows the establishment of medical marijuana centers. Measure 2H permits the establishment of medical marijuana cultivation, testing, research and manufacturing facilities.
