Area residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the 31st annual "Sunday in the Park" at Ridgway's Hartwell Park on Sunday, July 1. Activities begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by our traditional outdoor western barbecue with all the trimmings, free to all who attend.
Speaking on this year's theme, "Freedom through Christ" will be Randy Gradishar, Denver Broncos linebacker from 1974-83. Gradishar is a member of the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame, the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Ohio State All-Century Team. Since retiring from football, he has worked in business, and been involved in numerous community activities, including visiting troops in the Middle East, working with Promise Keepers, and helping the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.
In addition, special patriotic and inspiration music will be provided by JustOne Ministries from Durango. The JustOne worship team is dedicated to building unity among the body of Christ by showing others God's love, grace and mercy through relationships.
"Sunday in the Park" is an annual community event co-sponsored by Ridgway Community Church and Colona Community Church in an effort to rekindle small town values and community in celebration of our Christian heritage and the freedom and privileges we enjoy as Americans. Please, bring a lawn chair and join us as we enjoy an inspirational message and music followed by a barbecue picnic under 100-year-old cottonwoods following the program.
Hartwell Park is located in the center of Ridgway on Highway 62. For more information, call 970-626-5692.
