The Delta County Rock, Gem and Mineral Show will be held Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bill Heddles Recreation Center, 531 N. Palmer Street in Delta.
Featured items will include lighted mineral and specimen displays, gold panning, a fluorescent mineral display, bingo for children, and educational displays for children. There will also be door prizes, grab bags, a silent auction, and a wheel of rocks. Over 28 vendors will have gemstones, jewelry, mineral specimens, cabochons, slabs, fossils, and many other types of rocks for sale and on display. This event is free to the public, and children and adults of all ages are welcome.
The Outdoor Heritage Day in Confluence Park is the gateway for summer fun and adventure. This event is also scheduled Saturday, June 1. A youth fishing derby runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m., hosted by the Gunnison Gorge Anglers. No fishing license is required as it is National Free Fishing Week, but don't forget your fishing poles. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. over 45 exhibitors made up of outdoor groups, sports groups, governmental agencies and outdoor-related businesses, all dedicated partners with a passion for the outdoors, will be providing hands-on experiences and safety demonstrations by local emergency responders. This event is free and is hosted by the City of Delta Parks & Recreation along with all the generous community sponsors and event exhibitors to make this a day to remember.
