Despite a notice recently mailed to local participants in Rocky Mountain Health Plans, the health insurance plan will remain active in Delta County in 2019.
According to an email received from Nicole Konkoly, RAE network relations manager for Rocky Mountain Health Plans, "The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) sent a notice informing all RMHP (Rocky Mountain Health Plans) Medicare Members that their Medicare Cost Plan would not be available in 2019. The notice was intended for approximately 250 members in Elbert and Clear Creek counties on the Front Range. Unfortunately, the notice was sent in error to our entire Medicare membership throughout our service area... With CMS' approval, we will be initiating an outreach campaign in the next couple of days to ensure our members, brokers, providers and communities have the correct information about our 2019 Medicare service area."
The email from Konkoly was dated Sept. 6, so by now those who received erroneous notice should have received the corrected information. Anyone with questions, should contact RMHP customer service at 970-254-5771 or 1-800-667-6434 (toll-free), Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Deaf or hard of hearing individuals can use TTY equipment by dialing 711 for Relay Colorado, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also an email form on the organization's website where interested parties can submit questions: http://www.rmhp
Although RMHP will continue to be available in Western Slope communities, Colorado's Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) will not offer the RMHP Medicare HMO plan in 2019. Alternative plans are available and individual retirees affected by the changes have also received a personalized letter outlining their options for continuing coverage.
Open enrollment meetings will be held throughout the state to assist new and continuing retirees in making health plan decisions. Regional meetings will be held on Oct. 2 in Grand Junction at the Double Tree by Hilton, 743 Horizon Drive and on Oct. 3 in Montrose at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 1391 South Townsend Avenue. Those with questions prior to the open enrollment meetings can contact PERA's customer service center at 1-800-759-7372 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every weekday but Wednesdays when phone hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
