Schwieterman, Paonia girls win Sweitzer CC meet

Katya Schwieterman cruised to her second cross country meet win of the season, finishing 20 seconds ahead of her closest competitor to win the Delta Sweitzer meet, running a season-best time of 20 minutes, 40.8 seconds.
The Eagles had three top-10 finishes and set six personal- or season-best records. Tawny Roberts came in third with a personal record (PR) time of 21:11.75, and Alex Eaton placed sixth with a PR of 22:11.47.
Sofia Gonzalez, Cristina Rankin and Jade Ellenberger all set personal records, placing 12th (23:37.3), 13th (23:43.13.18) and 14th (23:44.34), respectively, and Abby Reedy was 20th with a season best time of 24:30.01.
The Paonia boys had four top-finishes to place fourth, led by Ethan Bartlett's third-place time of 16:53. His time was a minute and 10 seconds faster than his 2017 Sweitzer course time. Harley Ewert placed ninth in a season-best 18:12.11, Alyster Birk placed 16th with a PR of 18:53.41, and Alejandro Garcia finished 18th with a PR of 18:59.33. Calvin Reese set a new personal record of 20:45.47 to place 35th, Jose Mojarro placed 44th (22:32.20), and in his first cross country race, Zeb Etter placed 45th with a time of 22:32.37, followed by Aidan Zerr with a time of 23:46.09.
Karlie Egging finished 11th with a time of 23 minutes, 24.78 seconds at the Delta Sweitzer Lake Cross Country Invitational. Mariah Griffith placed 21st in 24:43.41, Grace Hatheway finished 25th in 25:39.16, and Adair Ela placed 29th in 27:31.38, resetting her previous best time by 1 minute, 45 seconds.
In the men's division, Tevin Keller placed 19th for Hotchkiss with a time of 19:08.35, and Will Ela placed 33rd in 20:31.62. Freshman Ben Rodriguez took just under two minutes off of his previous personal record to finish in 24:04.99, and in his third cross country race, freshman Pablo Camacho took almost two minutes, 45 seconds off his prior best time to finish in 24:26.18.
John Ames broke his season- and personal-best records to finish second at the Delta Sweitzer Lake Invitational Cross Country meet with a time of 16 minutes, 41.62 seconds. Shad Lewis finished sixth in 17:29.69. Andrew Toole placed 28th with a time of 20:15.60, Doyle Young placed 37th in 21:14.97, and Enrique Gonzalez ran a personal best time of 21:28.99 to finish 40th overall. The Delta boys finished fifth overall.
In the women's race, Beki Atchley placed seventh overall at Sweitzer with a time of 22:14.68. Delta placed third overall and had five runners finish in the top 20. Emma Corbasson placed 16th in 23:57.44, Aubree Andre placed 17th in a personal best time of 24:20.84, Abby Williams was 18th in 24:20.84, and first-year junior Remi Baldwin finished 19th in a personal record time of 24:25.32. Shoshanna Vigil and Alzbeta Hofmanova finished in 27:31.52 and 27:40.40, respectively; Zoe Williams finished at 28:48.03, Emma Roithmayr, 30:05.53, and Maria Lamas, 31:12.13.
Olathe's Layton McLaughlin placed 10th with a time of 18 minutes, 20.49 seconds and Alecxis Hernandez 11th in 18:25.55 at the Delta Sweitzer Lake Cross Country Invitational. The Olathe boys placed third overall. Miguel Almanza Silva placed 15th (18:46.44), Angel Sanchez placed 20th (19:15.18), and Emmanuel Ledesma placed 25th (20:04.81).
The Olathe girls placed second, led by a second place finish by Lupita Garcia with a time of 21:00.68, a fourth-place finish by Angela Alcaraz in 21:27.58, an eighth-place finish by Jaden Valdez in 22:31.70, and a ninth-place finish by Cheyanne Germann in 22:55.56.
