Score of 126 wins 18th annual Diablo Duo

There were 78 players who teed off last weekend for the 18th annual Diablo Duo Golf Tournament at Devil's Thumb Golf Club. The two-day tournament featured three flights of competition.

Winning the First Flight's top gross honors was the team of Tami French-Gunkel and Pam Buerger with a two-day total of 126. J. Kollath and K. Kock won net honors with their 129. Second-place gross honors went to Katy and Peggy Brink (134) with C. Hammerich and M. Fleming carding a 129 for second net honors.

The Second Flight's top gross players were Sandra Varnell and Tracee Lanier with a score of 111. Top net winners for the Second Flight featured the duo of Donni Cochran and Sue Means with a score of 121.

Second-place gross scorers for the Second Flight were Patti Michael and Tracy Brown with a score of 124. Second-place net honors went to Maria Hynes and Barb Thurman (124).

M. Marquardt and K. Dehan combined for a 136 to win the top gross prize in Third Flight competition with a 136. Top net winners in the flight were Jinx Richards and Jo Rosenquist with a 130. Rounding out the top two winning teams in the Third Flight were second-place gross winners Shelli Spiers and Wendy Millsaps and second net winners P. Ausbrooks and P. Puckett.

Delta High School head football coach Ben Johnson and assistant Ryan Whittington flank the winners. Twenty teams were registered for the event held at Devil’s Thumb Golf Club with proceeds going to the DHS football team.

Members of the winning team, not in order, include Mike Dallas, Ron Deushane, Al Brown and Jack Hannanan. Devil’s Thumb golf pro Ken Brown and Delta Alumni president Dwain Bush flank the winning foursome.
