All ages can compete in annual chess tournament

All ages are invited to participate in the annual amateur chess tournament to be held at Bill Heddles Recreation Center Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration fee is $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 16 and under, which covers the awards.

Crab Crack fundraiser planned in Montrose

The Black Canyon Boys and Girls Club's fourth annual Crab Crack fundraiser, presented by Elevate Fiber, will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Pavilion. Tickets are $60 and include all-you-can-eat crab, shrimp, andouille sausage, Olathe sweet corn, potatoes, bread, and dessert.

Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center and Delta County Libraries present "Voices of the Western Slope," a series of entertaining, engaging, and informative presentations on noteworthy topics of the Western Slope.

The first presentation in the quarterly series is "The Ute Indians" with Alma Evans.
