I commend Hank Lohmeyer's balanced reporting covering the women's march-affiliated gathering in Cedaredge, Jan. 21. The snowy-day assembly affirmed generally shared values, but as he reports, partisan presentations detracted from a unified show of local support for the global women's march organizers' expressed priorities: furthering women's rights to health, economic security, representation and safety.
Hopefully, follow-up events to such grassroots movements as the women's march will grow and provide meaningful results in our local area. I also hope Mr. Lohmeyer will continue providing his perceptive coverage of any such future events for the DCI.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
