In what has become an annual event, an all-league post-season baseball game was won by the WSL's 4A team, 8-6, in a game played in Rifle this past week.
Rifle coach Troy Phillips put together the post-season contest to give each league's all-conference selections an opportunity to play together for one last competition.
Cedaredge and Delta had a combined 10 players on this year's 3A roster.
The Bruins, coached by Terry Montoya, sent junior Sean Dale, sophomore Trey Geyer, senior Kaden Schulz and junior Dusty Emig to the game.
Delta coaches Steve Reiher and Paul Shean took sophomore Nolan Bynum, junior Gauge Lockhart and seniors Kolby Keller, Eli Farmer, Trevor Myers and Rowyn Carmichael to the WSL showcase game.
In the game, for the Bruins, Dale was one-for-two with an RBI; Geyer had one hit (a triple) in two-at-bats and scored a run; Emig was one-for-two; and Schulz was hitless in two at bats. Geyer also had a stint on the mound where he started the game for the 3A squad, working a couple of innings, and allowed no runs and struck two 4A batters.
Delta's contributions to the game included an inning of scoreless work on the mound for Bynum with Lockhart and Bynum posting hits for the Panthers.
Last week's 3A All-Conference story mentioned the league's selections but failed to note the league's top honors. Delta's Lockhart was named the Player of the Year for the 3A WSL and Panthers Coach Reiher was honored as the Coach of the Year.
